Our Souls

“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
Emily Bronte (Wuthering Heights)
I quite like this new black watercolour paper. I tried to not over paint on it so as to leave the black come through. I like how she has faint heart cheeks as this is such a romantic quote. I separate the quote from the book, however. When I think of this quote, I do not think of Catherine and Heathcliffe. I know I am an anomaly but I really didn’t like the character of Heathcliffe and so I had trouble buying into their love story. I love Emily Bronte’s writing though, so beautiful, such a great storyteller and the idea that two souls are so connected makes me swoon. Maybe I need to re-read the book, it has been over thirty years! No doubt I am wiser now, maybe I just didn’t GET it the first go around.
