“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
―
I have always been a sucker for magic. I love going to the theatre and been amazed by a clever tricks or illusions.
The magic that exists in our daily lives can be so easily overlooked.
I am here, right now, sharpening my senses, pulling myself into the present. Oh, the magic that exists in the world. It is staggering. We truly live in a wonderland, there is no need to tumble down any rabbit hole. If we can just be aware of what surrounds us, here and now, we can only be amazed.

“Of all the wonderful things in the wonderful universe of God, nothing seems to me more surprising than the planting of a seed in the blank earth and the result thereof. Take that Poppy seed, for instance: it lies in your palm, the merest atom of matter, hardly visible, a speck, a pin’s point in bulk, but within it is imprisoned a spirit of beauty ineffable, which will break its bonds and emerge from the dark ground and blossom in a splendor so dazzling as to baffle all powers of description.” Celia Thaxter

“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”
Emily Bronte (Wuthering Heights)
I quite like this new black watercolour paper. I tried to not over paint on it so as to leave the black come through. I like how she has faint heart cheeks as this is such a romantic quote. I separate the quote from the book, however. When I think of this quote, I do not think of Catherine and Heathcliffe. I know I am an anomaly but I really didn’t like the character of Heathcliffe and so I had trouble buying into their love story. I love Emily Bronte’s writing though, so beautiful, such a great storyteller and the idea that two souls are so connected makes me swoon. Maybe I need to re-read the book, it has been over thirty years! No doubt I am wiser now, maybe I just didn’t GET it the first go around.
